We are a bilingual school located in Almería (Spain). Our school is placed in the city centre of the capital. There are 43 members in our staff of which 41 are teachers and the other 2 works in administration. Our school has 679 students of which most of them come from middle-class backgrounds.
The levels of education covers from pre-school education to fourth year of compulsory secondary education. All of them are subsidised by the government. We teach a full range of academic subjects and also extracurricular classes in sports, choir, foreign languages and robotics.
Our school has specialised classrooms for music and art as well as a library, a canteen, a chapel and a science and computer lab.
Our institution belongs to the Daughters of Charity of San Vicente de Paul, which is a religious organization whose charism pays attention to the service of the poor and needy. They led thousands of institutions all over the world, including educational centres, nursing homes or social shelters among others. Our school combines academic preparation together with values that offer our students the development of intellectual, physical and emotional capabilities. We promote our students a culture of peace, integration and inclusion.
Furthermore, it is a centre that pays attention to social changes, educational and technological innovation, consequently, our teaching is highly accredited. Our school is one of the few which has such a high grade (450+) in the quality and excellence of our work, which we obtained in an external audit.
As teachers, we try to encourage our students to be sensitive towards other people needs and the problems that they can find in their society. So, we promote activities where they can be active participants of solving such situations. We teach students with critical, creative and flexible communicative competence. We stimulate mutual confidence, respect and support. We consider that this project would be a very good opportunity to learn different perspective and work all together for a better society.
